God and writing — two very crucial aspects of my life, which have also comforted and inspired me. I recently started the Psalms devotional through YouVersion, so part of my mornings are spent reading the Bible on my BlackBerry. So many of the verses have called out and comforted me this week.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23:5-6
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! – Psalm 27:14
The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. – Psalm 28:8
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. – Psalm 30:1
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me. – Psalm 13:5-6
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1
Even when the Enemy seeks to discourage me, to keep me from succeeding, I know that God is with me. That I, like David, will emerge victorious because of God’s grace.
This morning, I signed on Twitter and told @tiffsilverberg (freelance writer and Navy wife), @slhoppin (co-author of A Family’s Guide to the Military for Dummies) and @jesstagirl (Air Force wife, of Jesstagirl and Her Officer) about my first “real” writing assignment — I’m writing two web pieces and a print piece for Military Spouse Magazine. The support and encouragement from those women was amazing. I’ve never met any of them, but they nonetheless were excited for me. @mrsmommymatters (Coast Guard wife, of The Mommy Matters) offered to be a source for one of the articles.
The Lord has indeed dealt bountifully with me.
On another note, I was also inspired by a dream I had last night — Alan and I bumped our wedding date up several months, no one knew, few people attended, my dress wasn’t the one I ordered, the cake was too small to feed everyone and it wasn’t ready and I was upset because June 14 is special to us and I couldn’t figure out why everyone decided to just have the wedding now. This is my third wedding panic dream. There are less than six months left before summer is over and Alan and I will be separated for the last time before our wedding. That’s a lot of planning to do.
