My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Aside from some spelling and grammar errors and Houck’s penchant to tell rather than show, Tiger’s Curse was entertaining.
The first-person point of view was limiting, the plot was mostly predictable and the sentence structure rather simple (considering the age of the author — it would have been more acceptable had the author been 15 or 16, in my opinion), but Houck’s descriptions of India were interesting.
Overall, the storyline and sub-plots were interesting enough to warrant overlooking errors or matters of personal preference, especially in light of the fact that this is Houck’s debut. I am anticipating the release of the next in the series (though mostly in the hopes of having certain aspects of the storyline resolved).
